Howl is rather striking individual in part because of his looks and shining hair and in part because of his rather gaudy taste in clothes. Howl could best be described as boyishly good looking instead of ruggedly handsome. His features are to fine to really belong on a man and along with his shinning locks ensure he attracts a lot of attention and admiration. Howl is never short of female admirer’s jostling for his attention. Of all his features he likes his hair the most and goes to great lengths making his own shampoos and conditioners to ensure it always at its best. He changes its colour depending on the mood by means of a seal behind his ear though it most frequently brilliant blond when he is happy or a brooding bluish black when he is worried or depressed. He has an earring in his left ear and dazzling light blue eyes that seem to look into peoples souls though not in a way that seems disturbing or reprimanding. Well not especially large he is well developed physically, and his lithe frame contains well defined muscle. What takes people back more then his good looks is his smile, Howl smiles a lot far more then any Nin should though there seems to be nothing fake or deceptive about it.

He normally dresses in a variation of mole skin breeches, usually grey, tucked into knee high leather boots both of the finest cut and quality if relatively simple. He also tends to wears a large baggy white shirt with some ornate stitching around the cuffs and neck and a high unbuttoned collar. While hardly Nin wear, with no vest, sandals or much kit that is usually considered practical compared to the jacket and ornate pendant he wears they seem practically normal. He possess what could be best described as one of the most garish coats in creation, a long collar affair that goes down to his knees that appears to be a ornate mosaic of pink and dark blue with gold hemming held at the collar by a ornate gold chain. He frequently wears it like one would wear a cloak with the arms hanging loosely at his side. This garish, almost techno-coloured item seems on the surface highly impractical and is less then useless for blending into a ground. He also appears to wear an ornate golden pendant with a deep blue tea drop shaped gem hanging from it. Many of these items carried seals on as one might expert from an up and coming Fuuinjutsu expert

All in all Howl stands out a lot for Ninja and appears quite relaxed and friendly. His movement mirrors this, and while poised shows no sign of danger in it or hints at Nin training. Many mistake him for a nobleman/play boy with tasty for gaudy kit rather then a viable threat. Howls striking good looks and colourful clothes make him stand out in a crowd so he often henge’s himself in public places to attract less attention

Calcifer, his personal summon and constant companion is always to found with howl normally nestling within his cloak or in the palm of one of his hands

Personality


Howl comes across as strange even among Nin though paranoia and suspicion blind Nin to his true nature. Howl is different from other Nin. He displays traits that are trained out of budding Nin at a young age for the dangers that stem from them. Howl never seems to check for escapes routes, assess for threats and appears often to trust people at their word. This kind, handsome and generous youth almost seems as though wasn’t a Nin at all with little heed of the dangers out there and a willingness to trust strangers no Nin ought to possess. His actions are often so out of keeping with a Shinobi’s, from how he walks and carries himself, to his fighting style, it often takes some for people to realise he is Nin. He comes across as relaxed, engaging and seems to take the time to enjoy the little things and is never in a state of alarm on unease. Most of those who know him believe it is a carefully choreographed front, just another one of the young genjutsu user’s diversions to hide his true nature and lull his opponents into a false sense of security. The claim his vast bounty placed on his head by Kumo is proof enough of his true nature. His ways may seem reckless and untrained but he is also immensely likeable and anyone who spends long in his company finds themselves forgetting about their life and its hardship if only for a moment and think of happier things. Where they to know the truth of his actions, that his warm nature and kind words was very real. A great deal would find it incomprehensible and illogical.

Every Nin from courageous Genin of Suna to cut throat S Rank Missing Nin shares one essential character that colours them and marks them for who they are, that they are Ninjas, assassins one and all who despite their varied nature and loyalties live and die by the blade. Howl for reasons even those in the know struggle to understand is not. In spite of his Nin training and his interest in seals and genjutsu Howl is about as far as you can get from being a Nin while sharing the same skill set. Howl has absolutely no interest in killing people for money, to be a silent blade in the night for a village or any other organisation for that matter. He doesn’t act like a Nin simply because he isn’t one, at least not from the point of view of his mind. He isn’t especially paranoid, doesn’t carry a vast away of equipment or where particularly sensible clothes for infiltration or combat. He doesn’t look for exists upon entering room or spend his nights sharpening his blades or learning how best to garrotte people.

The truth is Howl is actually as kind, generous and forthright as he appears, a charitable soul in a world lacking in both charity and morals. He considers himself a wanderer, a mage and a healer travelling from place to place never spending too long on any one thing developing his illusions and understanding of seals while giving aid to those most need it. In his mind he has separated to use of chakra or magic as he likes to think of it from the need to be a killing machine. He has no interest in being a hired blade, an assassin in the night killing for money and reputation though he is not above protecting himself and others from those mean him harm. Much as he disagrees with how the world is he acknowledges the dangers that exists and is well aware of the substantial bounty on his head. He has a few flaws of course, he’s incredibly image conscious for one thing and worries far too much about his appearance but compared to most people he seems a beacon of hope. Those who meet him for better or worse are often changed forever by the experienced for in Howl the can see what the Nin world would be without the hate, the conflict or lust for power. What the world be like if the villages were centres of learning, understanding and healing then military bases. Though he is unaware of it the young Nin who is not Nin spreads hope in a world desperately in need of it. His every action from colourful illusions to his thoughtful smiles suggests a brighter tomorrow. Should he fall either mentally or physically the world will be a darker place for it.

Personality Trait's:

Primary Trait - The Nin who isn’t a Ninja: Howl’s most obvious trait from the point of view of other Nin is how different he is both in appearance and attitude to a normal Nin. From his unusual choice of clothes to his open and frank nature he as far as you can get from a true Nin. Where other Nin keep to themselves and maintain a professional outlook Howl is very much a people person with a positive and relaxed outlook on life. Howl is not an assassin but a dreamer and no more wishes to kill people then harm himself. This is not to say his ways are not subtle and mysterious just out of keeping with a Ninja, Howl doesn’t not consider him self a Nin but a wanderer trying to make his own way in a chaotic world. He might know and utilize jutsu but lacks the ninja mentality that goes with them.

Heartbreaker: Howl has broken the hearts of many a fair lady in his time. The problem is that he is able to quickly build up their trust and gain their affection but can not give his heart to them. His soul and heart, bound as they are in Calcifer are no longer his to give as a result he can not return their love. Howl has tendency to brake off any relationship he has before things get too serious as a result leaving a lot of disappointing and occasionally angry women in his wake

Hopelessly Optimistic: One of his greatest character flaws is that in world on the brink of chaos and destruction from malign forces Howl is almost annoyingly optimistic. He smiles a lot and never seems to let the world get him down. This makes him rather naïve sometimes in regard to trusting strangers though it also has a tendency to bring out the best in people.

Mostly Harmless: Due to the fact his first instincts upon meeting people is not whether they are threat and should be killed as with normal Nin and rather more friendly and welcoming if cautious Howl is relatively harmless. He is pacifist in his heart, if not in reality and rarely seeks violence for its own sake. That said he will defend himself and others if needed and is as dangerous as any when riled

Sensitive to the emotions of others: Many a Nin train themselves to think on the feet and judge the actions of their enemies but few go beyond an analysis on a tactical level and are as wholly ignorant of the social and emotional actions of others as anyone else. Howl has a fair deeper appreciation of emotions and why people do things and can come across as highly perceptive and understanding.

Vain about his Appearance: His second biggest flaw is his own vanity concerning his appearance. He seems to think that the only reason people like him is his good looks and will often arrive late, miss engagements or deadlines if he doesn’t think he looks presentable or someone has accidently switch his dyes about leaving his hair a mess. There is no arrogance in his vanity, he never lords his looks over anyone, it simply the only outlet for his insecurities about his future. By worrying about spots and roots he distracts himself from his own deeper problems such as being on the run and not having a clear role in life.

Hunger for Knowledge: Last but not least Howl is a very inquisitive individual and surprisingly a avid reader and soaks up information like a sponge. Unfortunately he shows little interest in learning anything beyond his own specialities and has little time for learning how best to kill people

Clan Name: The Ichushiro Clan

Kekkei Genkai: The Inner Seal – As animals evolve to meet the challenges of the environment so the Ichushiro Clan’s chakra coils shifted and warped over the decades till one generation developed a trait linked to their speciality. As Fuuinjutsu users without compare in Kumo they used to study, dream, sleep and even eat seals and such close study it seems is not without its unintended consequences. The Ichushiro bloodline developed a natural seal overlaying there chakra network they call the inner seal. It contains within it the knowledge of past generations of Ichurshiro, granting those who possess it the innate understanding of seals and their application. Those born with the Inner Seal know how to draw and create seals as naturally as others breathe. In time they learn to harness them with unmatched ease, use them in ways not conceived possible and even sense seals about them. Ichushiro clan members have the following traits as a result:

Chakra Efficient Sealers – The Ichushiro clans deep understanding of seals and shared genetic memory allows its members to use them with the minimum of wasted chakra. The chakra cost of all Fuuinjutsu techniques used by them is counted as one rank lower then the stated rank

Sealed Chakra System – While it doesn’t manifest itself physically the inner seal has a profound affect on the user‘s chakra system allowing the user to control it as though it were one highly complicated seal. Ichushiro clan members can close or open tenketsu points at will or seal off individuals parts of their network from the whole. This makes it very hard for others to damage, poison, corrode or cut off their chakra supply or else directly effect their chakra coils and thus makes them highly resistant to any attack on their chakra system.

Seal Sense – Ischushiro Clan members can detect any active seals within 50m of themselves. In addition they can in most cases recognise and unravel the seals purpose by concentrating on it though they can not do so for seals above their own rank

Clan History: The Ichushiro Clan was once one of Kumo’s most ancient and venerable clans, long possessing a seat on its council. For generations they have served as Kumo’s foremost sealers, helping to hide the city from enemies and ward the passes. The clan reached its height, in influence, wealth and prestige after one of their clan was the first to develop the inner seal and rose to become one of the city’s most prominent members. Ever since the Ichushiro clan has been considered the seal users of choice within Kumo and their services are in near constant demand. At one time their clan was numerous but war, disease and a lower then normal birth rate has brought the clan low in recent years. Three decades ago the clan was already on the brink of dying out, with a handful of members and fewer still with the vaunted inner seal that has helped keep the Ichushiro clan one step ahead of its competitors as Kumo’s premier fuuinjutsu users. They struggled to make their voice heard in the council. To counter this Taiga Ichushiro, then leader of the Ichushiro clan at the time, seemed to think the secrets of the clan’s revival lay with rediscovering long lost techniques. He was certain in his conviction that with them the lost honour and glory of the Ichushiro could be restored. However his hunt was in vain. By the time of his death he was considered crazy, dominated by his search for mythical techs though his numerous unsuccessful expeditions had turned up no ancient treasure. The clan never truly recovered both from the resources wasted on his schemes and the loss of face that came with failue though his son Zabuza seemed for all purposes a Nin of staggering skill whose open and enthusiastic attitude had one him many friends. By now the clan was shadow of its former self, though many expected great things from Zabuza, his charming young wife and the ever smiling son Howl. The family was greatly esteemed Zabuza rose through the ranks quickly considered intelligent, sharp witted and generous. His wife Anko always charming, supportive and warm and their son was the centre of attention among his age group, always smiling and having the ability to brighten even the bleakest day. Many thought the Ichushiro star was once more on the rise when the incident happened seven years ago. No one knows what happened that night, though all know of the black mist that clogged their compound come sunrise killing all who breathed it. The Raikage banned any entry and when no jutsu was capable of dissipating the terrifying mist decided to wait it out but the mist did not go away. After 6 months with not a sound from the compound and the clawing black mist still as thick as ever over the buildings within it was finally sealed off and left as a telling reminder of the clan that once called it home. One year ago, much to everyone’s surprise the unmovable mist finally disappeared one night and under secret orders elite operatives entered to uncover the truth behind the mysterious mist and what had happened to the ancient clan. Officially it was claimed to the by product of their clan’s defensive seal network collapsing, the result of numerous deadly seals activating simultaneously, though rumours persist that Taiga’s raving had not been as mad as they had seemed and that his son had continued his research. Tales of strange items dating back to before the villages being taken from the site abounded and rumours spread of Nin finding the residue of archaic and unfamiliar techniques within. Within days of it being reopened all talk about the Ichshiro was forbidden and it became another of the village’s secrets, a mystery that looked never to be solved. Only one thing is known for certain, that Howl has somehow survived the attack and was supposedly living as a missing nin, though why the charming boy they remember would run instead staying among the village, few knew. Kumo has since placed an A Ranked bounty for his safe return claiming they want to speak to him with regard to the incident and has even dispatched elite nin units on occasion when sightings of Howl have come in. Whatever happened there can be no doubt that they are eager to talk to the young man and will stop at nothing to see him safely returned to Kumo.

Name: Redokku Sennin’s Third Hand Projection Technique

Description: After forming a seal requiring physical contact it is possible to project that seal by means of this technique. The user need only form the technique, focus chakra in to any hand and manipulate it accordingly. A blue ghost like hand will form over their own bearing the seals mark on its palm. With a surge of charka this can be sent shooting off at high speeds towards a target. A certain amount of control over the flying hand can be exerted making it harder to dodge then one might imagine. Should contact be made the seal will activate as if user has touched the target himself. This cost a C Ranks worth of chakra in addition to the seals base cost

Description: Seal clones are material clones that operate much like water clones in that do not have a separate chakra supply or retain memory and must operate close to the user. There is one key difference in that such clones have a seal in their centre and when disrupted this seal is activated as if the user themselves applied to the target. Seal clones costs a c rank of chakra in addition to the cost of the seal itself. Should the clones be dispersed at range the seals are potentially recoverable to be reused at not additional cost by their creator

Description: Requiring 3 hand seals to perform and ending with the horse seal this technique creates 3 small seals in triangular formation set 3 foot apart from each other 1 m in front of the user. A foot behind a 2m wide swirling vortex will form between the seals and the user. The effect of this seal is to suck up with great force all the surrounding objects, items and materials like a vacuum through the triangular space and into the vortex where upon they are broken down into nothingness. This technique can suck up anything within 30m of the target that is not firmly rooted to the ground, such as trees etc

Description: Requiring 5 hand signs to perform the chakra immolation is another touch based seal with horrifying effects. Should a person be struck by this seal it will have the unfortunate effect of causing the stricken individuals localised chakra network to spontaneously combust causing immense internal damage and destroying the chakra coils within. Should it be allowed to spread through the system the resulting chain reaction will invariably kill the victim. Fortunately every chakra network has an internal defence system which will automatically react to the use of this seal by closing the nearest primary tenketsu point isolating attack and limiting the damage caused. Any limb struck so will effectively seize to be usable and will be unable to mould chakra and a direct hit to the chest or head is almost certainly fatal. This technique is incredibly effective when used on an individual who is gating should it manage to hit as the immense amount of chakra released in gating makes it impossible to seal ones tenketsu points effectively allowing its effects to spread throughout the victims chakra network

Description: As per the ancient clan guidelines a true seal master must proove their mastery of their subject by creating a seal of unquestioned skill. This technique is used by the Ichushiro clan to test the limits of a member and mastery of it is required to be appointed clan head. The Divine Judgement: 8 Gate Deconstruction Seal is among the most complicated and powerful seals ever devised. It was inspired after a clan leader 60 years ago did battle with the Tyrant of Rain who used gating in battle to great affect. He observed first hand the vast amount of chakra it unleashed and the damaging effects it had even on the Kage’s well trained and experienced body. He devised a sealing technique that exploited it but it was far too complicated and time consuming too be combat effective. To correct the issue he designed an ever more complicated seal that replicated the convoluted and lengthy sealing process needed allowing the techniques to be performed in a fraction of the time. The sealing technique takes the form of a large complex seal arrangement tattooed over the user’s arm. It takes over 24 hours to apply to a person and requires an unparalleled understanding of seals and chakra manipulation. Failed or disrupted attempts to apply it can cause immense pain, personal injury or even permanently burn out the user’s chakra coils. Only 3 men and 1 woman have ever been able to make it successfully. The seal in itself does nothing but can be used to perform the following sealing technique in a fraction of the time they would usually require:

Name: Divine Judgement: 8 Gate Release Immolation Sealing Technique (aka the living bomb technique)

Description: This seal requires a Divine Judgement: 8 Gate Deconstruction Seal to user effectively. It incorporates no less then 28 lesser seals within it, each with a defined role, whose combined result is far more then a sum of its individual parts. Its is heinously complicated in theory but is in practise simple to use thanks to the Divine Judgement: 8 Gate Deconstruction Seal effectively doing all the mind boggling manipulation needed for this technique. All the user needs to do is simply focus an immense amount of charka (equivalent to S ranks worth) into the seal at a steady rate over the course of one post to activate it. To an outside observer the individuals arm starts to glow in a bright golden hue as chakra appears to dance across his skin, for those who can see the flow of chakra the sight is truly astonishing with each individual strand being a tiny seal flowing in a breathtaking and unreal fashion. However their amazement soon fade as after activated the seal will form and the shining aura will turn blood red and radiate raw power. The user has 5 turns after activation to strike his opponent within the sealed arm before the chakra recedes. Holding it any longer will risk damaging the user’s own chakra network, potentially permanently. This technique combines a chakra immolation seal with a far more intricate series of seals with truly explosive effects that have one unfortunate purpose, to forcibly open all 8 of a persons internal chakra gates instantly. Gating even at lower levels takes extensive specialist training to endure and should be opened in stages to allow ones body to cope with the forces and pressure unleashed. In forcibly opening all 8 gates the toll on the body of the seal’s victim is unprecedented. The resultant chakra surge will instantly warp the victim’s chakra coils making further chakra manipulation impossible as well as causing unbelievable physical and mental pain as their chakra network is forcibly expanded beyond their natural limits, causing extensive internal injury. Unfortunately the worse is yet to come for the immolation seal has yet to activate. The user will do so remotely when at a safe distance and with horrific results. Under normal circumstances an immolation seal is stopped in its path with the victims chakra network sealing the nearest main tenketsu point to mitigate damage and stop its spread. However thanks to opening all the internal gats the chakra unleashed is so great that every tenketsu point is at bursting point, unable to seal itself, allowing for the immolation seals affects to spread throughout the victims chakra network. If the Nin in question is not on their knees before they will be now as their chakra system goes into critical mass and attacks the body directly melting their flesh from their bones. Superheated chakra will melt their eyes in seconds and pour out of the mouth and through there now empty eye sockets like beams of light. There skin will crack revealing a whirling vortex of chakra beneath. The screams of the victim and the eyrie light coming from them are all the warning those nearby will receive as a moment later then chakra within hits critical mass and explodes. The resulting explosion is unleashed as a sphere like wave of raw concentrate chakra reducing everything in the nearby vicinity to ash. The radius of the blast is dependant on the victim’s chakra reserves and is as follows:

Bearer of the Soul Enshrinement Seal: This horrific seal is all that remains of the Ichushiro clan’s dream for a better future. It was sealed on to him by his father to stave off certain death. This legendary seal, whose history can be found in the history section, was supposedly created by Redduko Sennin himself and was used according to legend to make an army of undying soldiers. What it does its separate the targets heart and soul from their body and places it safe within the confines of item, normally a box though it can also be a living creature. These items whose creation is believed to be lost in legend are not variously known as spirit stones, soul shards, phylacteries or even horcruxes depending where ones come from. Howl is the only known bearer of the seal and has for better or worse had his heart and soul sealed within his personal summons, Calcifer. Though he survived the sealing it forever left him change and given him the following advantages and disadvantages:

Advantages

Two Bound as One: The primary strength and greatest weakness of the seal. By enshrining the heart and soul of Howl in his summon his father linked his son’s fate to his summons, quite simply while Calcifer lives Howl can not in the regular sense die. His body can be harmed but damage sustained by it will not kill howl, for without his heart and soul it is little more then a fleshy husk, a golem made of bone and muscle whose is remotely controlling it by Howl’s true being. It is possible to damage his body or even destroy it utterly without killing Howl in a final sense since his soul will endure.
Soul Bound Regeneration: Another aspect of the seal is links the physical well being of Howls body to his soul. While Howls soul remains safe and unharmed within Calcifer his body benefits from what is known soul bound regeneration. While his souls remains Howl will constantly regenerate any injuries he sustains the speed of which is dependant on the scale of the injuries:
Minor Cuts, bruises and grazes: 2 posts
Cuts, Flesh Wound, Minor fractures: 4 posts
Organ Damage, Major Fractures: 6 posts
Organ/Limb Replacement: 10 post

If not covered either physically or by means of genjutsu the regeneration is highly visible with wounds clotting very quickly and giving off a fiery orange hue while sealing.
If for any reason the body is completely destroyed Howl has one week to seek a new one by having Calcifer come into contact with a dead body whose soul has already passed on. If not his own soul was pass on to the next life. If a new body is acquired in this fashion the physical damage and dead cells will be replaced with living ones and the body’s gender, appearance and even size will change to match howl’s original appearance. Regeneration of this nature takes time and Howl will be out for a week while his new body is usable once more
Block out Senses: Detached from his body as his soul is Howl can phase out his own senses most particularly his sense of pain and it not unknown for him to be un-phased by seemingly horrifically painful injuries

Downsides

Permanent Chakra Drain: In being bound to Calcifer he most constantly sustain his summon with own chakra. As a result he always counted as having used up enough chakra to summon Calcifer as if a regular summon. Currently Calcifer is C Rank and as such Howl always has a C rank less chakra available to him then other Nin of the same rank
Two Bound as One: While his body might be immune to death or destruction in a regular sense his heart and soul or not. Should Calcifer be killed then he will die as surely as any other. While generally the link makes him harder to generally defeat one powerful water based attack on Calcifer could potentially snuff the summon out killing both them instantly. If people are aware of this link it is far easier to kill him or worse still potentially use him. Should someone else gain control of Calcifer they could use him to force Howl to do their bidding.
Forever Together: Howl and Calcifer are not just bound spiritually but also out of practicality, Calcifer will always be at Howl’s side unless forcibly taken by others. First off the two must feel compelled to remain close at all times. Secondly and more problematically if Calcifer is to stray outside 100m of Howl’s body, Howl will lose his emotions and the regeneration the bond provides will take twice as long to work. At 500m it will be 75% slower and at 1km the regeneration will stop all together. Should he be separate from his soul/Calcifer be separate from his body for more then a week it will become a corpse and force his soul to seek out a new one as outlined in the regeneration section. In short there is no time Howl will be without Calcifer and will never hide him miles away to ensure no danger can harm him, given this aspect of bond Howl prefers to defend Calcifer personally and will not willing leave anywhere without him. Linked to this it should beared in mind that Calcifer is an undismissable summon and will never disappear after taking so much damage, he cannot unsummon in battle for any reason
Pain Link: Calcifer and Howl are link by more then souls, but even share pain. While Howl can dull it his own pain, any Calcifer suffers will be felt by him potentially giving away the sources of seeming Invulnerability
Elemental Alignment: The seal has for better of worse changed his own elemental alignment to match his summons. Where he once had two elemental affinities he now has only one, Fire, which cannot be changed or added too.
Aquaphobic: Howl’s close affinity to his personal summon as result of the seal has passed the fire elementals own fear of water to him. Though he lacks a weakness to it, the fear of it is nevertheless strong. He has an abnormal and persistent fear of water. He experiences bouts of anxiety when around it even though he realises the water in an ocean, a river, a lake, even a creek may pose no imminent threat. He refuses to go swimming and gets very anxious about crossing any body of water be it by boat or bridge. He also hates water walking. He is only fine with the act of bathing and seems fine with water as long as it full of bubble bath. Water users naturally worry him and he is terrified of the idea of being trapped by the water prison technique

The Nin who believes himself a Wizard: Despite his training as a Nin initially and use of Chakra Howl has broken away from the Nin culture and doesn’t like to be seen as a chakra user but magic manipulator often introducing himself as henge wizard, whatever one of those is. Many considered him gone in the head but whatever he introduce himself as he certainly doesn’t act or move like one. Howl is hard to pick out as having Nin training and more importantly has learnt to use hand signs without the need to keep hands together allowing him to wave his arms in flowing wide gestures as he does techniques giving the image of some other power at work. This makes it hard to tell what he is doing, what jutsu he is using or even that he is using a jutsu at all and allows him to often take others by surprise.

Lacking the killer edge: Howl, not truly being a Nin, lacks the killer edge that is part of the job and as such is at best a questionable threat to anyone who doesn’t antagonise him. He is far too merciful for his own good some times, willing to spare people he really shouldn’t. This ultimately stems from the fact Howl doesn’t like to fight, though will if needed, and would sooner avoid an encounter if possible. Given this he spends little time training martially, focusing his efforts on developing his Fuuinjutsu and Genjutsu, which has stymied his progress. Howl is considered to have the taijutsu ability of a Nin one rank lower then him self (Howl is currently B Rank and therefore would count as a C rank without taijutsu speciality in a hand to hand fight)

Calcifer

Name: Calcifer
Rank: One rank below Howl (Currently C Rank)
Appearance: Calcifer is a creature of flame, otherwise known as a Fire Elemental. His form being flame varies in size and can be change at whim between small enough to be cupped in the palm of a hand till as tall as howl. While flickering and every changing his resembles that of a ball of flame, often with arms, though given he is made of flame he isn’t limited to a specific shape. He moves about by levitation when not carried by Howl or nestling within his cloak and can hover up to 3 m off the ground but cant fly. His preferred form is a flaming ball between one foot and 6 inches in diameter. His body parts are very crude with his arms being little more then thick flaming tendrils and his face a set of eyes and a lipless mouth yet this seems to make him endearing to others and makes him seem more cute then threatening






Type of Summon: Calcifur is not technically a summon any more though he used to be Howl’s personal summon. Following the application of Soul Enshrinement Technique Calcifer lost the ability to summon or unsummon at will and remains always at Howl’s side. For the purpose of any conflict involving Howl it is assumed that calcifur is there from the start and should be mentioned in Howl’s initial post.

Bound Summon: See also Type of Summon. Calcifer is bound to Howl by means of an ancient archaic seal that has transferred howls heart and soul into the firey little summon. He is not summoned in the normal way and can not unsummon to avoid death. The bond between them makes a deep affinity and even where it possible Caclifur would not like to leave howl’s side. He will always endeavour to remain close to Howl and gets anxious if he can not see him or is not same room. It is not possible for Howl to simply leave Calcifer behind in a safe place and battle without him and he must be present in all life threatening encounters. Furthermore due to the nature of the Seal should Calcifer die then Howl will also perish.

Elemental Nature: Being made from fire as you might imagine has considerable barring on certain elemental types. He is immune to all fire based elemental attacks, vulnerable to all water based attacks which count as rank higher the normal while strong against wind based attacks which count as a rank lower then normal and give him half the chakra used in the attack as the wind fans his own flames to greater heights. In addition he will take a c rank’s worth of damage for every full post he is submerged in water.

Creature of Flame: As being of raw flame, is effectively a walking breath ball of fire and has some flaming traits as such as being able to set on things on fire, light up a room, used to warm people and even cook food. Without the use chakra he is capable or reaching 300 degrees though he can control his tempreture very effectively allowing him to burn brightly one moment and grow cool the next. This control extents to effecting others, calcifer can choose to burn or not to burn those who touch him and is one of the reason Howl’s shows no discomfort handling him. On a similar note techniques that affect the body function particularly medal techniques have no effect on calcifer, after all how can you the nervous system of a creature without one.

The technique is more damaging then it seems, is low rank reflective more of its very limited application then the damage it causes.

Description: Calcifer raises two flaming hands and unleashes a series of small fire balls. They are launched in a flower like formation and can spread as far apart or as close as the Calcifer likes. The wider the area the harder to avoid but the less damage it does. Howl can take advantage of this technique by throwing other projectiles which hide within these same flames. To the opponent the attack appears to be only the balls of flame, they do not see the hidden threat within the flames. The flames can be used to cover different projectiles like shuriken or kunai and adds a second unseen damaging aspect to the technique

Soldier Pills ~ You would be surprised to consider this a weapon, but it is. Soldier Pills allow the user to double their chakra or stamina. This increase lasts for four posts, but afterward the user will be cut down to 50% of their ability. If another one is used, it lasts for half of that which is two posts. Which the user will faint afterwards. If three are used, it will last for one post and the user will die afterwards.

Description: It looks like small decorate pouch hanging from his belt.

Special Abilities: It has a permanent mass storage seal inscribed on it and capable of storing massive amounts of items. In fact its gotten to the point where Howl isn’t entirely ensure what is in it and occasionally here’s strange sounds eminating from within though he’s never had a problem finding what he wants. Not only can it store items but its keeps them fresh and is great way to preserve important perishable items such as ham sandwiches. It also has a strengthening seal and a self repair seal to keep it in good shape
Origin: Howl created in the last few years as a test of his sealing abilities notably his mass storage seal. The pouch itself was bought from a small shop in the rice field country, its colour and ornate clasp catching the flamboyount chakra user’s eye



Name: Ring of Illusions
Description: A shiny silver and gold ring with a large glittering ruby.

Special Abilities: There is strengthening seal and a self repair seal to protect it but it otherwise nothing more then a rather gaudy ring. It serves as a genjutsu focus and is often used be howl to cast his genjutsu techniques good shape
Origin: Given to Howl as a reward for saving a village to the south of Crater City. It first item he received for a good deed and he treasures it. He values its meaning far more then its material cost



Name: The Radiant Coat
Description: Howl is the owner of a very striking coat. So striking in fact that were he a true Nin many would need to question his sanity. The colour, a striking combination of pale pink and dark blue with red lining and gold edging is the sort only some one very vain about the appearance or else very brave could get away with. Oddly enough it seems to suit his flamboyount, unpredictable and easy going style even if it often makes him stand out like a sore thumb. The

Water Tight ~ The Cloak is water proof, howl doesn’t like the rain to dampen his day. Furthermore it has seal that creates a water tight compartment forming between the wasit and high collar to better protect anything within. It won’t stop a water attack but will helps to keep howl dry

Genjutsu Focus
~ This bright and gaudy cloak attracts the eye like no other. The patterns on it are taken directly from designs created by Dream Weaver genjutsu specialists. They designed to entice and awe, with a wave or flurry of his cloak, the patterns on it will shine out making it a very effective focus for techniques.

Blinding ~ Howl can surge chakra through it at will to create a powerful flash stunning and temporarily blinding an opponent within 5ms for two posts. This costs a D Ranks worth of Chakra

Disarming ~ The cloak is so idiotic, bright and ridiculous that it makes it very hard to take Howl seriously. It has the same effects on those who see it as the harmless genjutsu, disarming his opponents and making it hard to take him seriously in both social and conflict situations

Stiffen ~ The last ability of this miraculous piece of clothing is ability to harden on the application of sufficient using a variation of a strengthening seal. It mitigates damage taken by howl reducing the power of a technique by one rank. This cost c rank worth of chakra

Origin: A leaving present given to him by Madame Maxine upon completing his apprenticeship. It was chosen because it suited his own debateable tastes and fit wells with the dramatic and entertaining nature of the Dream Weaver Genjutsu style. It is his most value possession and only Calcifer is more valued.



Name: Howl’s Big Red Book
Description: A large red leather bound book with ornate designs, sigils and seals. Within can pages glowing with chakra revealing a vast collection of mass storage seals in varying designs. To most people it simply seems a wonderous book and its not clear as to its purpose or the role of the seals

Special Abilities: To anyone else it’s a simple if beautiful book. However it is designed to respond to Howls touch and chakra signature. To Howl it is a powerful artefact that contains within its pages the raw materials for entire house. Howl will infuse his own chakra into the book by stroking the spine. This will cause the clasp to unlock and open the book in a flash of bright golden light. Moments later the pages will start to flick by, flying out, the seals on them glowing in various different hues going to set place and unravelling to unleash the books contents. In the next two posts and in a spectacular orgy of colour, light and floating seals the mass storage seals will release in stages unleashing their contents to create a house. Within the space of two posts a house will form in front of Howl. See Howls Manse for details.
The book has for reasons not entirely clear even to Howl has become linked to the Ever Keep Pouch and even if he did not put it in there before hand Howl can always reacquire the book simply by reaching into the pouch for it. Even Howl in spite of his masterful understanding of seals knows some mysteries are best left alone and hasn’t looked overly into it.
For balance reasons this will never be used in combat. Howl is not inclined to use his home offensively and is rather protective of his property.
Origin: Created in part from information glean from Xorzor the Mad and from his own deep understanding of seals, in particular mass storage seals. It was designed to allow him to construct and deconstruct his house and take it with him. As a wandering Nin without a village to call his own it allows him to take his home wherever he goes.

All it does is seal the flesh around the injury stopping further blood and is capable of halting the spread of poisons and disease when placed appropriately. Wounds sealed in this way will seem healed but are in truth still there and their effects and they pain they cause still felt. An attack that crippled the user’s right arm can be sealed to appear as normal but will still not function properly. In truth this technique does little but by time and hide the extent of the users injuries

Alarm Seal – D Rank – Alerts Howl if any hostile chakra signature comes within 50 m of the seal. Can be altered to make a large siren go off instead
Detonation Seal – C Rank - Normally lighting or Earth Based – Trap seals detonate in a 10m blast equivalent to a C Rank tech if anyone but their maker comes within range
Stupidity Seal – C Rank – Temporarily (for 3 rounds) blinds and stupefies anyone who touches an item/object bearing this seal
Incapacitation Seal – B Ranks – Release high powered electric current disabling any who touch the sealed object for 3 rounds as well as causing considerable nerve damage
Trap Seal – B Rank – Used on buildings/rooms/caves etc it seals the said structure trapping whoever triggered it. They are normally set to go off 3 seconds after a target enters the room. It is a rather problematic seal to deal with as it hardens the room making the walls far more durable. Only a A rank technique or higher can hope to breach the walls and provide an avenue for escape. This can be combined with an incapacitation seal to fill the room with knock gas after the event fully incapacitating the victim after 3 posts

All ward seals need to be triggered as a rule. The never affect their creator and can be blood linked so that they do not affect specific individuals. Howl tends to use them to secure his own base operations when in the field and on personal items.

The technique lasts till the portal is closed at which point the wall or obstruction seals as if nothing occurred. This is a great way to escape techniques or enter hard to reach places

With a surge of charka this can be sent shooting off at high speeds towards a target. A certain amount of control over the flying hand can be exerted making it harder to dodge then one might imagine. Should contact be made the seal will activate as if Howl has touched the target himself. This cost a C Ranks worth of chakra in addition to the seals base cost

Description: Seal clones are material clones that operate much like water clones in that do not have a separate chakra supply or retain memory and must operate close to the user. There is one key difference in that such clones have a seal in their centre and when disrupted this seal is activated as if the user themselves applied to the target. Seal clones costs a c rank of chakra in addition to the cost of the seal itself. Should the clones be dispersed at range the seals are potentially recoverable to be reused at not additional cost by their creator

Description: One of the first techniques any sealing specialists learns is how to seal jutsu on paper or within an item. The Jutsu Sealing Technique allows the user with the use of two additional hand seals to seal away a technique formed moments earlier to be released at a later point either on command or after a set time limit. Jutsu can be sealed in all manner of objects but are usually sealed on to paper or inanimate objects. Where the justu has a directional component the seal should be considered the point of origin and any effect will eminate at a 90 degree angle from the seal. For example a fireball technique sealed so will erupt when activated shooting off at a 90 degree angle to the seal itself. Sealing a jutsu costs an additional C ranks worth of chakra on top of the cost of the jutsu itself. S Rank techniques can not be sealed in this way. While quite possible, it is not permissible for balance reasons to carry sealed jutsu on ones person ahead of a missions

Description: This Seal requires 4 hand signs to perform and must be applied to the head of the target/person in question. Once in place the seal links itself directly to the persons mind and sustains itself by altering the flow of chakra to go through it. The seal activates if any foreign chakra or influence affects the chakra around the brain causing the person in question to suffer a shot lived if not inconsiderable jolt of pain by shocking nearby nerves. This seal serves as an effective means to inform the individual if he is under a genjutsu and can dispel genjutsu techniques of C Rank or below by means of the pain it causes. This seal must be placed on a person prior to a genjutsu attack to be effective and thus is of limited user once battle commences. It does not cost any chakra to maintain due to the seal being largely dormant most of the time

Description: This seal requires a complicated serious of handsigns and should be drawn over a central tenketsu point. Once in place it can be activated by the individual flaring chakra a c ranks worth of chakra at its location. Its effect is to purge the person’s chakra system absorbing harmful elements that have affected it. This process is painful and repeated use can lead to prolonged pain or even numbing. Please note only substances/techniques that directly affect the chakra system can be purged in this manner. This is not a healing technique and can not remove toxins or poisons from the body

Description: Gofuu Kekkai is a Fuuinjutsu technique utilized by Howl. The five "kin" (prohibition) seals act together to form a barrier to the entrance of their cave. The cave door itself is marked with one tag, and four other tags are located within a few hundred meters of each other. To remove the barrier, all five tags must be removed at the same moment.

Knowing that the barrier has this weakness, Howl added a further protection, in Kyoumen Shuuja no Jutsu. When the four surrounding tags are removed, a doppelganger of the person who removed it will emerge from the ground and battle them. The doppelganger can utilize all the same moves as the original, even bloodline techniques but has only a 1/3 of the endurance

On its own is does no damage but anyone unfortunate enough to have one on placed on them becomes far more susceptible to genjutsu and pain with all genjutsu targeted against them counting as a rank higher then they truly are and the pain felt by the victim amplified two fold. It can be removed using an unsealing technique

By reducing their chakra while boosting his own, it greatly increases his advantage over his opponent. The seal is removed with a unsealing tech of equal power or better of by destroying the seal itself though such an act of self mutilation causes considerable blood loss and weakens the owner in its own way

For example if he was to create a Water Suppression Seal, a B rank water would in fact have same impact as a C Rank one within the seals area of affect. All individuals within the area are thusly affected including Howl himself

Name: Sanbou Kyuukai - Three Buddhist Treasures Vacuum Destruction

Description: Requiring 3 hand seals to perform and ending with the horse seal this technique creates 3 small seals in triangular formation set 3 foot apart from each other 1 m in front of Howl. A foot behind a 2m wide swirling vortex will form between the seals and Howl. The effect of this seal is to suck up with great force all the surrounding objects, items and materials like a vacuum through the triangular space and into the vortex where upon they are broken down into nothingness. This technique can suck up anything within 30m of the target that is not firmly rooted to the ground, such as trees etc

Name: Chakra Shut Out Seal

Description: This seal when placed on a person forcibly seals the tenketsu points in the limb/body part touched making it anywhere from very difficult to virtuallty impossible to manipulate chakra within them till the seal is removed either by physically cutting it out or use of a sealing technique. Cutting out a seal is not only painful and disfiguring but life threatening depending on where the seal is placed. The effects various parts of the body differently depending on the part struck:

Leg: Slows the user down and makes it impossible to manipulate chakra in the limb preventing/restricting most speed related moves, water/tree walking, jumping beyond civilian levels and generally slows an opponent down 25%
Arm: User cannot use the arm for any chakra manipulation and or to perform handseals. It is also not possible to pump chakra into ones strikes leading to 25% reduction in strength
Lower Torso: Prevents chakra reaching either leg. This has the cumlative effect on their speed reducing by 50% in addition to the affects described in regard to a Leg strike
Head: Renders them incapable of shaping jutsu in their mind, thus incapable of doing jutsu at all as well as deactivating dojutsu during their time it remains active. The loss of chakra also dulls their senses slowing down the victim’s reaction time by 50%. It has the fortunate side effect of making the victim immune to genjutsu on the other hand as there is no longer any chakra surrounding their minds for others to manipulate and will instantly break any genjutsu currently affecting them
Upper Body: Striking this area will directly affect the centres of the chakra network. People struck here will experience all the above effects as there chakra system shuts down.

Description: This is a Fuuinjutsu technique that allows the ninja to seal away a nearby element. After unrolling a scroll to hold the attack, the ninja writes the needed sealing incantation onto the scroll. Then by forming the needed handseals, a vapour will emanate from the scroll to encompass the element and take it back to the scroll for sealing. This is not particularly useful against fast attacks in personal defence given the time it takes but is great at countering powerful elemental based abilities or saving many from a broad ranged attack. For example this can used to stop an incoming tidal wave or a destructive blaze

Description: An advanced and very powerful traveling technique capable of linking any two doorways whatever there distance allowing any who travel through them instantaneous passage. This is a transportation technique known only by highly trained seal masters. It would be very useful as a means of traveling long distances but not so great for escaping due to the time involved in forming it. It takes a full post using a existing door as a medium to travel through to form, during which the user must remain still in absolute concentration. When the technique is complete a shimmering surface will fill the open door way revealing the exit beyond and it will close after the user passes through or after 3 posts, whatever happens sooner. A door as a medium is not needed for advanced users who can form their own portal from chakra as a focal point for the technique but doing so costs a A ranks worth of chakra and thus restricted to A rank fuuinjutsu specialists. Being caught between the sides of a portal when it collapses is a very bad idea as the user will quite literally be spliced potentially severing body parts or even killing an careless user

kyousei no jutsu better known as the Art of Compulsion is among the most subtle and manipulative forms of Genjutsu, rarely practised due to its complicated nature and the fact that its users tend to be by their very nature secretive and manipulative unwilling to share or divulge their arcane knowledge. Those who study this form of genjutsu are apt at using the power of illusion and deception to charm, compel and even dominate others. Not dissimilar in effect to the Yamanaka’s of Konoha a Nin specialised in this form of the manipulative arts learns to make others question not just their eyes, but the memories, thoughts and even their identities.

This technique affects everyone in conversation with the user at the time of activation. It is a potent yet simple technique that relies on the fact that the human mind with the proper inducement willingly accepts any logical reason for things. The convince technique manipulates the chakra around their brain causing them to become susceptible to the words of others and believe the users words to be true. This incredibly subtle and as such is limited in its application. It cannot be used to give an order or compel and must not be at odds to what the individual knows to be true. It can not for instance be used to convince them that certain actions or event that know occurred did not happen but can be used to add details or change perceptions of the events. This can be used to make guards or Nin think you are not who they are looking for or convince others that certain facts are true whether they are or not. While limited in use the best part of it is that it is very short lived lasting only as long as the user needs to convince the target, normally just a few seconds. Once convinced the users own belief in the fact will sustain it beyond, much as any one once convinced of a fact will believe till a stronger counter argument is used meaning that it is often used, finished and effective before others realise a gen has been used at all.
Its brief nature and minimal effect makes it incredibly difficult to notice

The Charm technique makes the user appear more appealing to the target and cause them to be more relaxed in their company. Requiring one handseal or the use of a genjutsu focus it causes anyone who looks the user to be charmed in his company. This genjutsu affects any who can see the user at the time of use and lasts till the genjutsu is dispelled. A charmed individual will be relunctant to harm the user and will never initiate any battle with the user unless his mission requires him. Furthermore there is strong possibility that charmed individuals will move to help the user should a fight break out as one would do a close friend. This has no effect when battle has commenced. This technique is incredibly difficult to notice as it is designed especially to make the target feel comfortable and trusting in the users presence

Description: A simple yet effective technique. This genjutsu affects any who can see the user at the time of use and lasts till the genjutsu is dispelled. When affected by this genjutsu individuals are easily confused and become unsure of themselves as the chakra around their mind makes it difficult to focus on things. It is hard to think clearly on things and they are more sucetible to other kyousei no jutsu, raising the difficulty by one rank. In addition in a non combat situation a victim of this technique tends to become muddled and is prone to forgetting what he is doing. In a combat situation it reduces the targets reaction speed by 25% and makes them easily thrown off be changes in tactics or circumstances. This effects lasts for 7 posts or until dispelled

Description: This genjutsu does no harm to its target. Requiring only two handseals or the use of a genjutsu focus it cause anyone who looks the user and his companions as harmless. This genjutsu affects any who can see the user at the time of use and lasts till the genjutsu is dispelled. Given its subtle nature it is generally very difficult to notice. This causes them to become complacent and consider them either not worth their time or little threat. Out of combat this technique can be used to keep off unwanted attention while in combat it limits affect enemies will never use a rank of their own rank, but rather at a rank below or less not wanting to waste chakra or such a miserable opponent. For example a B Rank Nin so effect will be limited to c rank techniques while technique is in effect. This lasts until they are harmed by the user at which point the false complacency falls to weigh side. This technique is practically unnoticeable making very to break in a normal way

Description: By use of either of 2 simple handseals or a genjutsu focus and focusing on the target for 5 seconds howl can give the target a false memory replacing an old one. The power and thus the respective rank needed to do this is highly dependant on how different the memory was to the original with slight changes requiring little effort to do and being harder to see through. The more out of line with reality the change the more chakra is needed to soothe the targets sense of disbelief.

D Rank: Change details of a memory such as a numbers, words, colours, weather etc but the actions and the individuals concerned remain the same
C Rank: Change actions or identity of individuals involved but not both as well as any basic detail
B Rank: Change any part of a specific part of the memory

Should the genjutsu be broken before or during its application no change will occur but once the memory is changed dispelling the genjutsu will not change it back. It will take close inspection by a skilled genjutsu user or mind manipulator to notice the alteration and correct it. The technique itself only last 5 seconds are believed if successful to such time as the victim is convinced otherwise by reasoned argument.

Description: A lesser form of domination. This genjutsu allows the user to instruct or give simple instructions to a target or group of targets who can hear his voice. After forming the necessary handseals or using a genjutsu focus the user makes a simple request in a sonorous voice that seems to root itself in their phsyce. Those who hear it find themselves drawn to the voice and an unquestioning urge to do as it says. The instruction must be obeyed as long as it doesn’t go against a characters nature, to force them to use jutsu/waste chakra, do anything that would cause them direct injury, stop them from directly completing their mission or forces them to leave the thread. It is not possible to cause the target/s to say cut themselves or abandon their missions or leave an ally behind to die. However it does include things such as movements by the victim, standing still or the performance of a simple act.

Description: A unusual fusion of convince and compel, sleep causes the target/s to become drowsy and feel an great urge to take a nap. The compulsion is strong and the victims truly feel tired and incredibly drowsy. The first post after the reaction speeds will drop 25% as sleep starts to take them, the next post to 50% as the legs fell leaden and eyes struggle to stay open. If they have not broken the jutsu by the 3rd post they will fall into a deep sleep from which they won’t arise unless someone else dispels the jutsu or 2 hours pass. The technique is a visual one and affects everyone looking at the user at the time of the activation needing 3 handseals or a genjutsu focus to perform

Description: A amusing vocal based technique that proves highly effective in battle. This genjutsu affects any who can here user at the time of use and lasts till the genjutsu is dispelled. This is the advance from of confuse inciting the same uncertainty but then adding a riddle with an insatiable urge to know the answer. Unfortunately confused as they are its very hard to concentrate and the riddle itself has no answer leaving the target in a state of great confusion, anxiety, uncertainty and most of all highly distracted. It is impossible to do techniques the require considerable concentration or time to perform in this state and the targets reaction time are reduced by 50%, making them slower and reducing seal speed accordingly as they spend most of the brain power stumbling to solve an unsolvable riddle. This lasts for 7 posts or until dispelled

Description: Require 3 handseals or the use of a genjutsu focus. A handy technique that cause the targets of it to consider it against their principles to perform an action or use particular items or techniques designated by the user. Be they evil or good alike the very thought of doing/using the action/item is repugnant to them while the genjutsu lasts. It can affect one thing aspect of an opponent which can not be chakra usage broadly but can include not using a speciality, element, weapon/item type or even their kkg. This does not affect the ability to use but rather their inclination too. For example if used on an Uchiha the user might induce the nin not to use his sharingan.

Description: The false death technique requires but one hand seal and good timing. It creates the illusion that user has died from the last attack or accumulated wounds. After a brief check for life signs will cause anyone searching them to conclude the user has snuffed it and that they should be about their business without further delay. This is often used to fake their death and causes opponents to leave considering the lives at an end. The difficulty of the technique is linked to the manner of death. The more likely death was the more convincing the technique and thus the more difficult to break.

Description: This causes the victim to feel specific emotions by inducing the victim’s mind into feeling them. This is most commonly used to get a victim into a desired state of mind such as making someone fearless fearful in preparation of using a fear inducing technique or making someone brave cowardly. This only affects one emotion which must be stated at the time of use. The genjutsu itself lasts only seconds but its effects last for 5 posts to reflect the time taken to suppress the emotions brought to the surface.

Name: Heighten emotions

Type: Genjutsu
Element: N/A
Description: Requiring the victim to form 2 handseals or the use of a genjutsu focus. It also requires that the victim be subject to or in an emotional state to begin with. This technique plays on these emotions using illusions and subtle inducements to greatly increase their effect to the point where they start to seriously affect the target. This technique has the following effects in combination with certain emotions:

Fear: Causes the target to become terrorified of a particular item or person. For the first post after the users is a paralysed in fear unable to move. For the following four posts the user will never willing come closer then 10m’s to the item/person and will fall back if persued. Last 5 posts
Anger: Causes the target to become blinded by rage. In this state he will become overcome with bloodlust and seek to kill whatever person is nearest regardless of their affiliation. They can only attack full out and cannot use defensive jutsu. It does have one positive side affect, the rage felt is so intense that they can ignore the pain of wounds sustained while affected. Lasts 5 posts
Love: Causes the target to fall in love with a particular person or object and lavish them with their attention. They will brock no harm to this person, nor let them put themselves or other use them in a manner that might harm them. They feel compelled to defend them from all harm even at the rick of their own life. Lasts for 5 posts
Emotion - Bravery: Causes the target to be reckless courageous to the point where he feels the need to throw himself into battle heedless of danger (though not entirely unaware of it) and of personal injury. For 5 posts the character may not back down, fall back or try to outflank others in battle and must seek a direct battle. He may still avoid attacks and use defensive jutsu but not in manner that would leave him immobile or pinned in position (i.e hiding behind a wall of earth). This applies even when the situation is clearly dire and it would be most prudent to retreat

Name: Dominate (Forbidden Technique)
Rank: B-S (Howl is B rank so can only use it at his level)
Type: Genjutsu
Element: N/A
Description: While often considered weak and of questionable use by outsiders there are few more techniques as insidious or as wicked as the dominate. This genjutsu works be removing the targets free will and leaving his mine open to suggestions often of the gruesome sort. In practise it works in a similar way to compel with direct commands to the victim to do certain actions after activation though the concentration needed means it can only be used on one person at a time. It can be used to force people to do horrible things to civilians, their friends, even their loved ones.
The technique is only effective on individuals of the users rank or lower, high ranking users being able to shrug off the intrusion. Targets of the same rank are affected for 3 posts, one rank lower for 6 posts and targets two ranks lower will be affected till the genjutsu is dispelled. It can be dispelled like all genjutsu but only before it activates probably or after first post of affect. During the first post the victim is too shocked by the harrowing experience of losing their free will to react. While in affect the victim must obey the orders of the user to the letter, from tying a knot in a robe to killing a loved one or attacking a teammate. Only an order to harm oneself or allow others to harm them can be resisted to a point though the techniques user can even instruct them to do just that if the spend a post concentrating with all their willpower on the target. To do so though they must not move and must maintain eye to eye contact throughout the post. The technique is not pleasant and its will leave victims of it shaken.

Name: Altered Perception

Type: Genjutsu
Element: N/A
Description: A cunning and scheming technique with often deadly results. This powerful technique subverts the impulses going to victims brain causing them to perceive a reality almost identical to the true one but with one difference. That the in their mind the user appears as their teammate and the teammate the user, the change is so subtle that its very difficult to notice but the effects are immediate, tragic and often fatal. Until dispelled the victim/target will assume the user is in fact their partner and their partner the user and act accordingly. In battle this often leads to the victim attacking the partner often catching him unawares. The locations and circumstances of either party prior to the technique do not matter and will not effect the victims belief, since the technique also alters the preconceptions of the victim in to thinking that everything is as it was and nothing is awry This technique is all the worse since it also allows the user to get in close to the target who assumes him friendly and land an expected killing blow. The only flaw with this technique is that only works on one person at a time so it will become quickly apparent to the partner what has happened and they will most likely try to dispel the technique. Failing to do so often has lethal consequences for both partners as one kills the other only to be killed in turn by the user.

Yume Tsukurite

Yume Tsukurite, the Dream Weaver genjutsu, all shares a few aspects in common. One they create (or weave as users like to say) a false or deceptive reality, two they often lock their victims in dream like states, three and most importantly they nearly all are designed to appeal directly to the victim. They hardly ever causes negative states of mind or inflict pain (or the illusion of it) or make their victims see their own death as so many genjutsu do. Dream weaver genjutsu, rather then terrify and inflict emotional trauma on their victim as most genjutsu do, almost singularly calm and relax them. Description: Similar to daze in nature but different in effect. Rather then create the impression of one powerful if beautiful firework going off nearby it creates a whole stream of fireworks that take to the sky above in a beautiful display that is never the same twice and tailored to best suit the tastes of the target/s. There is no illusion of a physical effect as with daze, there are not in any way dazed or stunned, however the targets are taken over by the bright colours, sparks and fireworks and feel drawn to watching them turning the attention away from the here and now. For 3 posts the target/s are highly distracted and react 50% slower to any attacks, concentrating on taking in the magical display then the subsequent actions of the user. This is very effective opener to a second attack

Description: A minor genjutsu created and used only by Howl. It requires that user be of pure of heart and that his intentions be good to work. It quite literally creates an empathic bridge between the user and the target/s down which Howl sends happy thoughts and reveals the truth of his nature to the target. Not only is the action oddly pleasant, making the target feel rejuvenated but it makes other like minded individuals feel some kinship to Howl. Naturally this technique is only affective against those who are innately good or at least want to be, evil or naturally uncaring individuals remain unaffected. If the affected target was a foe they find themselves more reluctant to engage him and are likely to seek a peaceful resolution, if done on an ally it will bolster their courage and wash out feelings of fear and strengthen their resolve to continue.

Description: This genjutsu creates a figmental wisp, a shining tree spirit, in the minds of the target that darts back and forth according to users will. It will appear from the undergrowth as if it is presence was natural and unrelated to the user. This flying ball of playful energy shines mischievously and induces those who can see it to chase it only to dash off as they draw nearer. This technique is a great way to lure others to a certain place or lead them off from another. This technique counts as a rank higher if used in a forest area which real wisps are predominantly found but is ineffective in the desert as its presence there is hard to conceive.

Description: A more powerful version of daze. The amazement technique makes the illusionary fireworks display truly breathtaking and from the point of view of the jutsu’s target and unmissable event. While in effect they cannot draw their eyes away from the site and stand dead still mouths agape in amazement marvelling at the wonder of it. For the following post the target is considered effectively paralysed and must look directly up at the display forsaking all other things.

Description: This technique causes the target/s mind to be transferred to a dream like world, call the veil which is controlled by the user. The user will in truth be fully awake and capable of full movement and actions but what they perceive is a world away from reality itself. The transition to veil is seamless and far harder to notice then one might imagine, for rather then a quick noticeable change from the real world to veil the target is made to believe they have woken up from a dream rather then fallen into one at the battle or scene before hand was a figment of imagination and the veil is the true world. At this level the users control over the veil is incredibly limited and therefore they cannot sculpt the dream for a defined result. The user cannot get target to perform specific actions or act in certain way. The dream simply uses the target/s own memories to create a world akin to the own though it is always sunny, warm and usually involved the target believing themselves in the company of friends and family. The dream is always pleasant and will leave the target feeling oddly refresh. The waking dream will last until it is dispelled. In practise where someone else is not on hand to do this for them then it will depend on how long it takes for the target to realise they are trapped in a genjutsu, the speed of which is dependant on their rank and whether they have genjutsu speciality. All Nin whatever their rank will notice what they are seeing is not reality after 5 posts. Genjutsu specialists will notice 3 posts earlier while Nin of a higher rank will notice 3 posts earlier per rank. In practise this means that when used by a B rank Nin this will be noticed by an A rank genjutsu or an S rank non user for what it is immediately.

Description: This genjutsu cause the target/s to believe that far from what they are actually doing, they in truth attending a masked ball in their honour and those about them are other party goers. Normally such a change from reality would be immediately noticeable but the joy of event and the flattery the target believes the receive causes them to quickly believe the ball is the true reality. Until the technique is dispelled the user will waltz about trapped in an illusionary dance. If multiple targets are affected they will dance together in time to music no one else can here. This lasts only for time for one dance, normally 2-3 posts and the experience is ironically spiritually refreshing restoring to its victims a d ranks worth of chakra but only if it is not dispelled prematurely.

Description: The next stage up from day dream. This jutsu once again takes the user in the dream world known as the void however where as before the user could not effect substantially affect the targets perception using this technique the user can now significantly change the view on the world. By altering the nature of their very perception of which they are this technique can make its technique them think they are other people or creatures and act accordingly. Unlike in day dream the veil is deliberately thin so that the world appears very similar to the real one but from the perspective of this new person or creature. While under effects a user must act in the manner of this person/animal to the best of their own knowledge. The user can then tweak the veil to engender a specific response to which in their new identity the target feels beholden to react to. For example this can be used to make the target/s to think they are in fact a pig/s and should they be shown a mythical bucket of slop they will run over to it on all fours. Strangely enough the life is oddly fulfilling, a welcome break from the constraints and worries or reality. All these identities are intentionally ignorant of a means to dispel genjutsu, so an initial thought on how to do so will produce no results. It requires not only that a victim realize he is in genjutsu (i.e. not who he thinks he is) but to spend one post at least trying to break the conditioning applied to him long enough to remember who he really is and that he has a way to dispel genjutsu.

Description: Identical in nature to day dream but far more powerful and convincing. Rather then change the targets self identity as in second life this technique focuses on the user pouring chakra into making the target/s dreams a reality. When affected by this technique and individuals every whim and fantasy becomes, at least to their mind a reality. What ever their nature or taste this genjutsu makes their deepest wish come to life. Unlike most Wish Weave techniques the target/s of it are fully aware it’s a genjutsu, given life could hardly compare to the experience they are dreaming but is still harder to break free from then regular genjutsu. Simply put victims of this technique do not consciously want to leave the paradise it creates. It takes time for a target to bring themselves to leave it behind by means of dispel. The time it takes is dependant on the rank an ability of the victim:

Victim same rank as user: 5 Posts
Victim one or more ranks lower: 10 posts
Each rank the victim is higher: Two posts less
Genjutsu speciality: Two posts less

Victims of technique are spiritually refreshed by the experience and gain a C ranks worth of additional chakra. It is of course possible for another unaffected individual to break at any time by regular means but the victim doesn’t benefit from the chakra gain
