Keibatsu Clan Empty
PostSubject: Keibatsu Clan   Keibatsu Clan EmptyMon Aug 10, 2009 11:32 pm

Clan Name: Keibatsu

Kekkei Genkai: Self-Projection

History:
There are many reports of primitive people whose self-assigned name means simply "the People" or "humans." Such tribes are often viewed as isolated, or arrogant, or just ignorant. The clan I write of is not so "simple"-- their ancestors knew perfectly well that there were other humans in the world. Thus, they chose to assign to themselves and their descendants the name "Keibatsu"-- "The Clan."

The Keibatsu Clan never achieved any serious prominence-- they're known for some unusual genjutsu, but nothing overpowering or world-shaping. Certainly nothing that makes anyone worry that they'd destroy the village. The clan elders prefer it that way. Instead of a reputation for strength, they have a reputation for oddity. They're prosperous enough, though-- many instructors think the clan members are motivated to "prove their clan."

The Keibatsu are known in Konohagakure as isolationists. This is partly because of their tactic of keeping children separate from the general population until they can at least suppress their abilities. While necessary, inculcates a certain degree of clannish standoffishness. This is further enhanced by the fact that the family Kekkei Genkai allows parents and children to understand each other on a fundamental level and to communicate incredibly clearly. This sense of emotional intimacy is almost never replicated outside the home, for obvious reasons.
Further, while it isn't exactly a secret, the technical details of the clan’s KKG are tightly suppressed, as least partly to prevent other families from developing countermeasures. Even in situations such as the Chuunin exams where students are instructed to “show off,” most members of the clan attempt to camouflage exactly what it is that they’re doing. Those who assemble information enough to for theories think that they’re an offshoot of the Yamanaka clan in the same way that the Sharingan is a derivative of the Byakugan.

There was one time where the Keibatsu did "show off." A kunoichi from the Clan was on a mission outside the land of Fire. Through a series of betrayals, she was... ravished. The person directly responsible committed suicide, which is a solid testament to the woman's own emotional state at the time. When she returned home, everyone understood her feelings, as was only natural. Shortly afterwards a mysterious individual specifically requested a large number of shinobi from the Keibatsu clan for a mission well beyond the borders of the Fire Country. For whatever reason, a bitter and eventually fatal struggle broke out between the inhabitants of the fortress where the victim was originally hired (and held). There is another meaning for Keibatsu-- "Judgment."

Secret Clan Jutsu:
Name: Empathetic projection
Rank: D
Type: Clan technique
Element: N/A
Description: This is the most basic form of the Keibatsu Kekkei Genkai. All members of the clan are trained in it at the earliest possible date, in part to prevent them from doing it unintentionally. Using the KKG, clan members project some or all of their emotions onto someone else nearby. Note that while it is actually easier to affect multiple targets than one (less focus), the emotions are divided, not multiplied. You’d need to be pretty terrified to make three attackers run away. As with all Keibatsu clan techniques, no new sensations are created—if this is used to make someone happier, the user becomes more depressed.

Name: Sensory projection
Rank: C
Type: Clan technique
Element: N/A
Description: This technique projects physical sensations onto another. At first only simpler, more focused sensations can be projected, such as the feel of a cut somewhere on the body. Those with more control of the clan ability can project more generalized sensations, such as the overall body temperature. It is possible to project even highly complex sensations, such as that of light striking the eye, making Keibatsu members extremely effective scouts. As with all Keibatsu clan techniques, no new sensations are created.

Name: Chakra projection
Rank: B
Type: Clan technique
Element: N/A
Description: This technique projects chakra motions onto another. Its most common application is to change the target of a genjutsu that is affecting the shinobi. As with most such techniques, the user must be aware of the genjutsu’s existence to initiate the projection. As with all Keibatsu clan techniques, no new sensations are created.

Name: Impulse projection
Rank: A
Type: Clan Technique
Element: N/A
Description: This technique projects extremely small sensations onto another shinobi, such as neural impulses. It can be used to control another’s movements, but (obviously) if another is being controlled those same impulses cannot be used to manipulate the user’s own limbs. The absolute best result that resisting such control could produce would be paralysis—if a shinobi could somehow predict in advance exactly what impulses were being projected onto their body, they could send exactly the opposite impulse and the two would cancel each other out (telling the same muscle(s) to expand and contract, etc).

Name: Soul Projection
Rank: S
Type: Clan Technique
Element: N/A
Description: “The art that you only get to try once.” A shinobi with complete mastery over the Keibatsu Kekkei Genkai can permanently project everything about themselves onto a new body. This leaves them with their own knowledge and memories, but the new body’s elements, physical advantages/limitations, and Kekkei Genkai. If the technique is not properly executed, the user dies. If the target of the technique is using any techniques similar to Kai, or if the target’s mind is fundamentally different from the user’s (i.e. non-human), the technique fails and the user dies. If the technique is properly executed, it can never be done again, since the Keibatsu Kekkei Genkai is biologically based and does not travel to the new body. There’s some suggestion that the clan head uses this technique on his successor (a member of the Keibatsu), achieving true immortality, but since only three or four people know of the potential for such an act at any one time the speculation is not widespread.

1. If not, please include a range of how far you have to be in order to use projection.
2. Does the jutsus require hand seals?

3.

So that means you are immune to all Genjutsu if you see it coming? Also does it mean you can reverse it back on the user?

A. All projection techniques have a rank-dependent range. Someone just mastering their abilities (Academy student) would have a range of perhaps a meter.

2. Does the jutsu require hand seals?
B. Depends. All of the jutsu require concnetration and activation of the family Kekkei Genkai. Handsigns facilitate that, but aren't necessary. A godo rule of thumb is the -1 rule: Keibatsu clan shinobi can use the clan jutsu of their rank -1 without handsigns, so a Genin could use Empathetic projection without handsigns, but not Sensory Projection. This obviously means that no one could use Soul Projection without its intricate sequence of handsigns.

3. So that means you are immune to all Genjutsu if you see it coming? Also does it mean you can reverse it back on the user?
C. It's important to remember that these jutsus are a formalization of an innate ability, so there's no "one size fits all" answer in the same way that not every Hyuuga can see all of someone's chakra points. The Neji of the Keibatsu as a Sannin could reflect any Genjutsu I've ever heard of, yes. A Genin who'd saved up the points for a B-ranked jutsu probably couldn't reflect any genjutsu above C-rank. I say probably since some genjutsu (like Temple of Nirvana) are specifically described as "easy to dispel." Obviously, genjutsu reflection is subject to the range restrictions like everything else.
