A swift shadow moved through the trees, jumping form branch to branch. Ulkira was going as fast as he could, trying to forget his worries. He had had it. It was too much. This life he had, brooding over his past, it was driving him crazy. Every day, his desire to avenge his parents grew stronger, and every day, he felt the same thing: that he would never be able to get strong enough to kill his brother and avenge his parents’ death. He knew he would never be able to get that strong; his brother had always been a greater ninja than him, and Ulkira knew that by now Carrus would have gotten far stronger. He did not know if he could stand this any longer.

Ulkira stopped jumping form branch to branch and glanced up at the sky above him. Dark clouds could be seen moving across the sky, threatening rain. Ulkira knew it would be best to return to his house; staying out in the rain wasn’t a very smart thing to do. However, Ulkira could see that it would be a little while until it started raining. Until then, he was going to go wherever his legs took him. Turning his attention back to the forest ahead of him, he continued jumping from branch to branch, not thinking about where he was headed. As he jumped, he saw fellow shinobi below him on the ground, packing up there things. Apparently they had just been training, and had decided to stop since a storm was brewing. Ulkira thought back to his team, and the mission he had gone on with Yondaime-Sensei and his teammates Initake Inahara and Kinzoku Nara. He had enjoyed that mission, even though he could have been killed. Nevertheless, it had been fun, fighting against someone who was far more powerful than him. He smiled a little as he remembered that, a little cheered up by the memory.

As he leaped from branch to branch, he heard thunder and stopped. The Uchiha stood on a branch, looking up at the sky. The clouds had gotten closer. Ulkira considered returning home now, but he stopped and looked at where he was. He had kept track of where he was going, he had been too immersed in his thoughts. Now that he was paying attention to his surroundings, he could see an amazing sight: two giant statues, far bigger than any he had seen so far, where standing on either side of a giant waterfall. One was the Shodaime Hokage, and the other was Uchiha Madara. Ulkira found it amusing that he, an Uchiha, would come here where the founder of Konoha had fought against one of his own clan members. He walked closer to the statues, looking up at their towering figures. As he looked up, he thought he saw a quick movement on the finger of Madara. Squinting, he tried to make sense of the movement, but couldn’t see what it was. As he just made up his mind that he would climb up and see what was up there, he saw a kunai come flying at him. He didn’t need a hawk’s vision to see that the kunai had an explosive note attached to it. Quickly, Ulkira jumped back, using his chakra to propel himself further, far enough that he could dodge the explosion. Ulkira landed cat-like on the water, standing on it with a simple Ninjutsu. He glared up at the place where the kunai had come from. “Who are you?” he called. “Why did you do that?” For a minute, there was no answer. It must be an enemy of Konoha, why else would he attack me unprovoked? he thought as he straightened up. He heard the sound of laughter coming from above, and then the person who had attacked him spoke. “Nicely dodged Ulkira, you’re not totally useless as a ninja.” Ulkira froze as he heard the voice and looked up carefully at the man standing in full view on Madara’s finger. It was Ulkira’s brother, Carrus.

Ulkira glared up at Carrus, anger and fear flooding his insides. “Why are you here? What do you want?” Ulkira demanded. As he said the last word, he saw his brother disappear from Madara’s finger and appear behind him, all in the time it took to blink. Carrus bent down close to Ulkira and whispered in his ear: “That’s none of your concern, Ulkira. Now, think fast!” With that, he kicked the Genin into the air and away from him. Ulkira landed hard on the ground. He struggled to his feet and looked up at Carrus, who was grinning maliciously and holding a katana in his hand. “Come on then, little bro, let’s see how much you’ve improved,” he taunted, swinging his katana forward and pointing it at Ulkira. Ulkira glared at him and withdrew a few kunai as he activated his Sharingan. He knew he was no match for his brother; he had to find a chance to escape. It was the only way he could survive. Carrus would definitely kill him, Ulkira knew it.

Spreading his feet a little, Ulkira threw the kunai in his hands at Carrus and broke into a run. He could hear the sound of metal clashing against metal, and knew that Carrus had simply blocked the kunai. The next second, Carrus appeared in front of Ulkira, and before Ulkira could do anything, Carrus shoved the katana in his hand into Ulkira’s stomach. Ulkira yelled as the pain hit him, and coughed out blood. Carrus withdrew the katana from Ulkira’s stomach. Ulkira fell to his knees, gasping and clutching his wound. He looked up at Carrus, and was horrified to see a look of pleasure on his face. He really wanted to kill Ulkira. Carrus laughed evilly as he said, “Hope you had a good life, Ulkira, because it’s about to come to an abrupt end. Just lie there and die quietly, I have more important things to do than watch you die, no matter how much I want to.” With another laugh, he turned and began walking away from Ulkira. Ulkira looked down at the ground, at the blood he had coughed up. If he was going to die, then he would at least cripple his brother. He brought is hand to the blood on his lips, and wiped a little of it onto the tattoo on his arms. He glanced up to make sure that Carrus wasn’t coming back, then quickly did a few handsigns and summoned Kobura. Ulkira told him what to do, and the snake nodded and dug into the ground. Ulkira fell onto his back, gasping and clutching his wound in pain. Summoning Kobura had totally wiped him of his already fading strength. He could only hope it had been worth it. He didn’t know what a fun life was, but he knew that he had enjoyed it. Ulkira smiled a little as he closed his eyes. His breathing stopped, and he moved no more.

A few minutes later, it started raining, and the ground beside Ulkira’s motionless body cracked as Kobura popped out of the ground. He was covered in burns and cuts, and half his tail was missing. It was obvious that he had been fatally injured, and death was sure to come for him any moment. The injured snake looked at its master’s dead body, hissing slightly. Ulkira would never know that his order to Kobura had been a success. Carrus was now poisoned, and it was a matter of time until he would be paralyzed by Kobura’s poison, and soon after that he would die. The snake gave a final hiss and lay on the ground beside his master. Kobura closed his eyes and lay there beside Ulkira, and eventually he stopped moving too.
